  • Q:  What is the Cacao (Cocoa) content in Amber Lyn Chocolates?
    A:  Our Dark Chocolate contains 55% cocoa and milk chocolate contains 34% cocoa.

  • Q:  Are you going to bring back white chocolate?
    A:  Unfortunately we are no longer able to source the raw ingredients for white chocolate.  We apologize for disappointing our loyal white chocolate customers.  We sincerely wish this was not the case.

  • Q:  Are all Amber Lyn Chocolate products sugar free?
    A:  All our dark chocolate products are sugar free and our milk chocolate products contain no added sugars. (Milk contains lactose, a naturally occurring sugar).

  • Q:  What's the difference between "sugar free" and "no sugar added?"
    A:  Throughout the Amber Lyn Chocolate store you'll find products that are listed as "Sugar Free" and "No Sugar Added." The difference is really in the dark and milk chocolate. Milk chocolate contains milk sugar - lactose, that occurs naturally in milk. Therefore, all of our milk chocolate products are listed as "no sugar added" and all of our dark chocolate products are listed as "sugar free," as they contain no milk. That being said, we do not add sugars to any of our milk or dark chocolate products.

  • Q:  If you don't use sugar, what is used to sweeten your Chocolate?
    A:  Our Belgian Chocolate is sweetened with Maltitol. Maltitol is a natural plant-based, reduced calorie sweetener that has 90% the sweetness of sugar. Maltitol is a member of a family of sweeteners known as sugar alcohols or polyols. Most of the maltitol on the market today is derived from corn. The maltitol used in Amber Lyn Chocolates is derived from wheat, but the wheat has been processed to allow this food to meet the Food and Drug Administration requirements for gluten-free foods.

  • Q:  What is Maltitol?
    A:  Maltitol is a natural plant-based, reduced calorie sweetener that has 90% the sweetness of sugar. Maltitol is a member of a family of sweeteners known as sugar alcohols or polyols. Most of the maltitol on the market today is derived from corn. The maltitol used in Amber Lyn Chocolates is derived from wheat, but the wheat has been processed to allow our chocolate to meet the Food and Drug Administration requirements for gluten-free foods. Third party laboratory analysis confirms that Amber Lyn chocolate contains less than 10ppm gluten which exceeds both the FDA and Gluten Free standards for gluten free.

  • Q:  Are there benefits to using Maltitol?
    A:  There are numerous benefits that warrant the use of Maltitol in the manufacturing of confectionery products:
    » It does not promote tooth decay
    » It has only 2.1 cal/gram, compared with the 4 cal/gram in sugar
    » It is useful in the manufacturing of sucrose-free chocolate
    » It has been approved by the FDA as GRAS
    » It has little or no effect on blood sugar levels

  • Q:  Does Amber Lyn Chocolate contain gluten?
    A:  All Amber Lyn products except for our Chocolate Covered Pretzels are gluten free and sugar free / no sugar added. Independent laboratory testing confirms that Amber Lyn Chocolate contains less than ten (10) ppm gluten. Actual test results are available for viewing on our web site.   • Q:  Do Amber Lyn Chocolates contain artificial flavors, chemicals, or preservatives?
    A:  No. Our chocolate contains no chemicals, preservatives, or artificial flavors. It's made from premium Belgian Chocolate containing only the highest quality ingredients and inclusions.

  • Q:  Why does your chocolate cost more than some other sugar free chocolates I see in the grocery store?
    A:  Most other sugar free (and traditionally sweetened) chocolate products are made from inexpensive domestic chocolate. These other "value" brands often use artificial sweeteners such as sucralose (Splenda) to sweeten their products. Amber Lyn Chocolate is not only sugar free (or no sugar added), it is premium chocolate of the very highest quality, imported from Belgium where our beans are roasted, ground and conched by world renowned Belgian chocolatiers. Our chocolate contains no artificial sweeteners, no substitute oils and no preservatives – nothing artificial. It is the world’s finest sugar free chocolate.

  • Q:  What are net carbs?
    A:  Net carbohydrates are calculated by taking the total carbohydrates and subtracting fiber and non-sugar sweetener carbohydrates, or any other "non-impact" carbohydrate. Net carbohydrates are the carbohydrates that are actually absorbed by the body.

    A:  Each product is listed with its nutritional information, including ingredients and other important data like calories, fat, carbs, sugars, etc...     A:  The shelf life of Amber Lyn Chocolates is typically 9 to 12 months, and even longer if refrigerated and stored in a dry place.

  • Q:  Do Amber Lyn Chocolates contain caffeine?
    A:  People often ask, "Does your chocolate contain caffeine?" The short answer is yes, chocolate does contain small amounts of caffeine. Chocolate also contains another closely related substance called theobromine which can mimic the effects of caffeine. One ounce of dark chocolate averages about 12mg (less than 25% of the amount in a cup of coffee). Milk chocolate contains even less.

    A:  We have a number of chocolate products that do contains nuts. Most do not. We do not use peanuts in any of our products and our production facility is peanut-free.

    A:  Our chocolate does not currently carry a Kosher certification.

  • Q:  What does the "may cause laxative effect" statement mean on your packaging?
    A:  The natural plant-based sweetener we use, maltitol, can cause a mild laxative or fullness effect in some individuals with digestive sensitivities. The effect is short lived, completely harmless and not unlike what often happens when you eat a handful of fresh cherries. When eaten in moderation, most people experience no negative effects.

  • Q:  What are your shipping rates?
    A:  Standard shipping for orders between $0-49.99 is $9.95.  Orders over $50 ground shipping is free. For orders to the Southern states (Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida) or in areas experiencing consistent temperatures above 85° F we STRONGLY suggest you choose 2nd day or Next Day Express Shipping option, so your package can arrive in a timely manner allowing the gel packs to keep your treats from melting.

  • Q:  The shipping seems high, why is that?
    A:  Shipping chocolate requires special handling all year round, and in the summer months, protection against heat damage. Amber Lyn has no control over shipping costs, and the ongoing increases in fuels and transportation have dramatically increased them. We subsidize the cost of shipping for all our customers.

  • Q:  How do you ensure my order will not melt during Summer months?
    A:  During summer months all of our orders are packed with frozen gel packs and insulating materials to ensure they stay cool during shipment. It is important to have your order shipped to an address where the chocolate will be delivered indoors and not left outside. During hot weather months (May - September) we will only ship Monday thru Wednesday of each week to ensure your order does not spend the weekend in a hot warehouse or post office where it may be subjected to damaging heat.  If 2nd Day or Next Day Express Shipping is selected and chocolate arrives melted, we will replace or refund your purchase immediately if your package is delivered indoors and not left outside. Amber Lyn cannot guarantee your chocolate will arrive un-melted if ground shipping is selected.

  • Q:  What if my order arrives melted or heat damaged?
    A:  If your order arrives melted or heat damaged and was shipped via 2nd Day or Next Day Express Shipping, please contact us and we will gladly refund your order or resend your order. However, we cannot guarantee the quality of your order if your order was shipped via ground shipping or was left at your doorstep or in a mailbox for several hours or days. Please ensure your order is sent to a location where someone can retrieve the package as soon as it arrives.  We encourage you to  sign up for the UPS My Choice system, you are able to receive delivery alerts via email or your phone, change your delivery location, or hold your package for pick up at your local UPS store.

  • Q:  How long will it take to get my order?
    A:  Orders are filled within 24-48 hours after they are received. If a product is out of stock and we cannot fulfill an order, a customer service representative will contact you for further instructions. Once shipped by standard delivery, orders normally take 2 to 5 days to arrive depending on where you live. (2 days to the West Coast, 3 to 5 days to the East Coast) Orders with expedited shipping normally ship the same day.

  • Q:  Do you guarantee your products?
    A:  At Amber Lyn we're passionate about great chocolate and that's why we offer our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee as your assurance of quality. We'll put our money where your mouth is. If you don't agree that the chocolate you ordered from Amber Lyn is of the very highest quality and tastes as good as the finest sugar sweetened chocolate, simply return the unused portion and we'll refund your product cost. No questions asked.

  • Q:  What is your return policy?
    A:  In the highly unlikely event you are not satisfied with your chocolate, please return unused portion to The Cacao Group, 9075 South Sandy Parkway Sandy, UT 84070, within 30 days of purchase. Please be sure to include the following information so we can confirm the original order: name, ship to address, and order number (if you still have it). Also, please include contact information (phone number or current email address) should we have difficulty finding your original order or processing a refund.

  • Q:  I want to return my order. What do I do?
    A:  If you want to return your order for any reason, simply repack it in the box it arrived in, along with any packaging and temperature control materials, and ship it to: The Cacao Group, 9075 South Sandy Parkway Sandy, UT 84070. Be sure to include your packing slip or order number. Please call toll free 866-986-2738 to alert us as to the return and the reason. (Your feedback is very important to us.) A refund will be issued upon receipt of the returned product.
